This article reports on a study of 307 students aged 14-17 years at a South Australia High School. It examined suicide ideation, plans, threats & deliberate self-harm as predictors of suicide attempts. The findings indicate these 4 antecedents are associated with attempts & the combination of suicide plans & deliberate self-harm present a particularly worrying mixture. Further, a composite index of suicidality was demonstrated to have some utility in identifying suicide attempters. (19 Refs.)
