The epidemiology of parasuicide reported in this chapter covers 2 urban areas of northern Italy each surrounded by rural zones. The WHO/EURO study is the 1st comprehensive analysis of Italian parasuicidal behavior. Findings show higher rates than expected. 782 events involving 648 persons were monitored over the 4-year period. A slight decreasing rate was observed. Information gaps in some socioeconomic indicators & general negative Italian attitude towards interiews on these aspects were noted.
