In this article, “generational analysis” is proposed that would consider actual cohort or generational suicide risk. Personality characteristics of different generations are discussed. 1968-91 suicide data are presented for “Boomers” (born 1943-60) & 13ers (1961-81). Boomers: 1 of every 3 suicides, 1 of every 4 Americans. 13ers: 1 of 4 suicides, 1 of 3 in population. These groups are at greater risk than earlier generations, with 13ers higher than Boomers for ages thus far attained. (40 refs.)
