Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Teams and Schools (IN: What Will we do? Preparing a School Community to Cope With Crisis, ed. by R G Stevenson)

Support is needed for all those affected by a crisis, including those who offer support. This chapter presents The Critical Stress Debriefing (CISB) model. CISB Teams, made up of emergency personnel & mental health professionals who have all completed specialized training, exist across the country. Schools should establish a working relationship with these teams. Team tasks, response protocols & timely deployment of resources are described (96-hour window of opportunity for maximum benefit).
