Abstract
Depressive Distress Among Homosexually Active African American men and Women
Cochran S D~~Mays V M
Rates of depressive distress & suicidal thoughts were examined in a sample of homosexually active African Americans (n=829 males, 603 females). 5% of the symptomatic HIV-infected men reported that their most upsetting life problem was suicidal thoughts. Comparisons indicated that this group of subjects reported being troubled by suicidal thoughts more frequently than HIV-antibody negative men, men whose HIV status was unknown, & women. (47 refs.)
