This book is the 7th annual report providing USA National & State Profiles of Child Well-Being. It provides data reflecting 10 critical dimensions of children’s lives & benchmarks to evaluate broad societal efforts to improve conditions. The extent of progress/decline varies from state to state. A significant 1994 finding: nearly 4 million children are growing up in “severely distressed neighbourhoods.” Working to change & empower these communities may be the best way to help these children.
