This Editorial provides additional comments on the survey of physicians reported by Shapiro et al (see SIEC #1994-0223). It commends the authors for their survey instrument, statistical analyses, and ability to successfully obtain results from a large number of physicians representing multiple specialties & diverse ethical & religious preferences. It also provides data on The Netherlands, the only country where euthanasia is openly practiced, & draws some comparisons. (12 refs.)
