This analysis examined the suicide rate in USA Army male soldiers from 1958-1993. Following Stack (1983), the military participation rate was used as a proxy measure of the country’s involvement in war. Using a time-series regression program, the suicide rates of both soldiers & men in the general population were found to decline during wartime. (3 refs.)
