Alberta Euthanasia Survey: 1. Physicians’ Opinions About the Morality and Legalization of Active Euthanasia

A total of 2002 of the licensed physicians in Alberta were mailed a questionnaire in 1991 to ascertain their opinions about the morality & legalization of active euthanasia. 69% of the sample responded. 44% of the respondents believe that it is sometimes right to practice active euthanasia; 46% did not. Moral acceptance of active euthanasia correlated with type of practice & religious affiliation & activity. 28% said they would practice euthanasia if it were legalized; 51% said they would not.
