Recent Trends in Mental Health Services in Italy: an Analysis of National and Local Data

This paper reviews trends in Italian mental health services after the implrementation of the 1978 Mental Health Act. Two sets of data are presented. The first is data at the national level on different types of mental health services. The second is data from two case register areas in Northern Italy where efforts have been made to implement a comprehensive network of mental health services under the Mental Health Act.
