The author of this article had been in supervisory positions that dealt with death prior to her husband’s suicide. Her traumatic experience led to a new understanding of personnel practices as they relate to the employee. Suggestions & insights provide guidance to supervisors who may have employees who experience a traumatic loss as well as to individuals looking for ways to support a friend during the bereavement process. She notes that the words, “we love you” are powerful beyond belief.
