Families may be thrown into crises due to various reasons such as the suicide of a member. In such situations, the families undergo periods of tremendous stress & strain. There is a limited body of literature available on families in crisis in India. In this paper, the available research on suicide, unwed motherhood & rape is reviewed to examine the trends in findings & methods used, to draw implications for practice & policy, to identify gaps in research & suggest future research needs.
