The Paquette Letter comments on the proposed continuity concept (dementia & depression stand at both ends of a spectrum) & notes that while the approach has theoretical & clinical utility, it is unpractical for instrumental purposes. The letter by Mulsant & Reynolds comments on the referenced prevalence of major depression in late life, & notes several other recent studies.
