This article reports findings of a comparitive study of postmortem concentrations among suicide, homicide, accident, & physical disease groups (total n=101). The correlations between metabolites & age, gender, & postmortem interval, as well as the effects of drugs & circadian variation of 5-HVIAA, HVA, TRP in the frontal cortex were examined. Implications of the findings for the role of serotonin & dopamine in suicide & violence are discussed. (55 Refs.)
