Epidemiology of Suicide Ideation and Parasuicides: Results From the Quebec Health Survey

This presentation reports on the epidemiology of completed suicide in Quebec as context for reporting on the results of the Quebec Health Survey conducted in 1987. More than 13,000 residential households participated, providing data on more than 32,000 individuals. 2 survey instruments were used. Reported lifetime & 12-month prevalence of suicide ideation & parasuicide are congruent with other North American studies. Surprisingly, no association between parasuicide & gender was found.
