This presentation recommends family therapy as the treatment of choice. It notes that while the family contains the intrinsic forces of love, caring, & growth, it is also basic to the tensions & conflicts leading to a suicidal outcome. Expressions of anger, blaming, scapegoating, double binding, & other seemingly destructive reactions are often the beginning of cure. Such behavior in a therapist’s office has a far different meaning than when it occurs at home.
