Support Services to Homeless/Street Youth in Ottawa-Carleton: a Needs Assessment and Plan for Action

This report presents the results of a needs assessment for homeless/street youth in Ottawa/Carelton & proposes an action plan to address these needs. Substance abuse, self-mutilation, & suicide are some of the ways in which young street people express their anger & pain. 51 of 65 youths surveyed had thought about suicide, 35 had attempted suicide, & 20 had attempted suicide more than once. Those youths who had traded sex were more likely to have attempted suicide.
