In this letter to the editor, White comments on an article by Hendin regarding the evaluation & treatment of young suicidal patients. White states that suicide is a crisis of attachment which ends in a transgenerational confusion of love & death. He suggests that family crisis intervention with brief family therapy is the treatment of choice for adolescent suicide crisis. Hendin’s reply, in which he says that the case for family therapy has been overstated, follows.
