Abstract
The Effect of Female Participation in the Labor Force on Suicide: a Time Series Analysis, 1948-1980
Stack S
Two opposed paradigms have been used to explain the impact of female labour force participation. One argues that suicide should increase due to role conflict & overload while the other argues that suicide will decrease because the benefits outweigh the costs. Stack formulates a third, synthetic view on the impact of female employment based on the cultural context surrounding female participation. Control variables are included from the domestic integration & economic paradigms. (74 refs.)
