This article discusses students “at-risk” of not completing their education with an adequate level of skills. Although early intervention programming can be a means of getting students off to a good start in school, successful attempts to assist at-risk students require other long-term strategies & sustained resources. The efforts of schools, families & communities to meet the needs of these students must be coordinated into a comprehensive set of strategies that mutually reinforce one another.
