The authors discuss reasons for the increase in anger, violence, extremism, & suicide among Israeli adolescents today. The emphasis by parents on their children’s achievements, the desire to see children grow up faster, in effect denies the children the opportunity to grow. Parents & professionals need to work with the superego in a “therapeutic attempt”, using ethics that are not punitive. (22 refs.)
