The factor structure & internal consistency reliability of the Reasons for Living Inventory was examined by administering the Inventory to 275 psychology students. Generally, derived factors were identical with the Inventory’s subscales. Significant gender differences were found on 3 subscales – a finding not consistent with other studies. Reliability of the subscales ranged from moderate to high, suggesting that the Inventory was a reasonably internally consistent instrument for this sample.
