The author briefly describes a school liaison program in Somerset County, New Jersey which provides a link between the mental health and educational systems. The objective of this program has been to coordinate the suicide prevention efforts of the two systems. The liaison program also outreaches to other groups in the county, such as clergy, youth shelters, & rape crisis centres. The program is still in evolution thus prompting the author’s call for consistent follow-up & evaluation.
