Reports rates & demographic & clinical risk factors for adolescent suicide attempts during a 6-8 year follow-up period (N=106 psychiatric inpatients, N=101 nonpatients). Survival analysis was used to evaluate risk for a first suicide attempt in the follow-up period for 133 Ss who were interviewed. Adolescents who attempted suicide in the follow-up period were 7 times more likely to have a mood disorder than nonattempters. Implications for clinical practice & research are discussed. (40 refs.)
