This letter to the editor discusses a study of 148 patients admitted to a intervention unit at a psychiatric hospital for self-poisoning, of which 41% had blood alcohol present. Blood alcohol levels were higher in older patients, & higher levels were also associated with women on weekdays & men on weekends.
