31 suicidal French-Canadian men & women participated in a study of the differential effect of 2 community-based support programs on levels of self-esteem, stress & suicide ideation. Results indicate that Ss in both programs reported an increase in self-esteem & a decrease in life stress & suicide ideation. The social support approaches reflected in the programs did not result in relative differences in suicide ideation. (6 refs.)
