This article examines the relationship between alcohol use & violent deaths (accidents, suicides & homicides) by analyzing the 1978-84 data from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of Oklahoma. Out of those who died on the same day they were injured, alcohol was involved for 52% of homicide victims, 40% of suicide victims, & 49% of accident victims. Alcohol was most often involved in the deaths of Hispanic men & Native American men & women. (VM)
