This article summarizes a study on suicidal behavior & panic disorder. The authors found that people with a history of panic disorder had a higher rate of suicide ideation & attempts than people with major depression. The editor responds cautiously, observing that some people believe the Diagnostic Interview Schedule (DIS) over-diagnoses some disorders, & he also states that at at least half of those being treated for panic disorder have a history of major depression.
