This article discusses how to plan a system for public transit to prevent intentional (i.e. suicides completed from jumping from a subway platform) & unintentional injuries. Methods to collect data on injuries are also discussed. The author details the questions to ask, for example, how many downtown stops, & the age & gender profile of average riders. Among other things, he suggests bright lighting & paint, & a system of patrols. (VM)
