In this study, 30 suicide victims about whom biographies have been written (e.g. Judy Garland & Ernest Hemingway) were examined in the framework of 10 statements formulated by Leenaars from 10 major theorists of suicide. Some of the theories were quite successful in describing the suicides, in particular, Shneidman, Jung, & Sullivan. Freud & Kelly were the least successful. Other theorists studied include Adler, Binswanger, Menninger, Murray, & Zilbourg. (VM)
