Suicidal Behavior in Children and Adolescents: a Clinical and Research Perspective

This article outlines the significant findings on suicidal risk in children & adolescents, inlcuding psychosocial, sociocultural & philosophical features. A definition of youth suicidal episodes is presented, as well as risk factors involving psychiatric disorders in the suicidal youngster & family. Environmental, developmental, & physiological stresses are also discussed, & ideas for clinical management & further research are also offered. (VM)
