Examined symptoms of 16 long-term anorexia nervosa patients (aged 14-28 years) between 1972-1988. Most Ss eventually exhibited bulimic behavior. Physical symptoms included abnormal electrolytes, hormonal disorders, & teeth loss, with 7 patients almost dying. Psychological symptoms included lying & kleptomania, substance abuse, phobic, obsessive-compulsive, self-destructive, violent & deviant behavior, suicide attempts & social withdrawal. (8 refs.)
