This study uses a hierarchical multiple regression model to assess the potential risk factors for suicidality in youths 7 to 17 years old. A group with major depressive disorders (MDD), as well as a group of patients without depressive symptoms were tested. The authors found that conduct problems & depressive thinking were the most powerful predictors. Separation anxiety was found to protect MDD youths, which suggests they comprise a distinct subgroup of depressed youths. (VM)
