This study analyzes the patient records of 145 patients over the age of 65 years seen at a general hospital after deliberate self-harm. The author found 55% were widowed, 90% had depressive conditions, & 63% had significant physical illness. Half of the reported a history of earlier self-harm, & both repetition & suicide rates were low, though this may have been due to inaccuracy in the follow-up. (VM)
