This details the method used to create a rating scale for adults who are hospitalized due to a depressive or suicidal state. Almost 3,000 subjects were evaluated through a clinical interview, in which information was gathered about psychosocial characteristics. The death registry identified those who died by suicide within 2 years, & the characteristics of these subjects were used to form the Suicide Risk Assessment Scale, which is included. (VM)
