In this article, the effects of marital status, race & gender on the timing of suicide are discussed. The 3 groups studied are young adults (25-39), middle-aged adults (40-59), & older adults (60+). They found that females, African Americans, & married persons are less likely to commit suicide than males, Caucasians & unmarried persons; however, in midlife , the rate of suicide for females & married persons increases significantly.
