This report tabulates the more than 1.5 million poison exposure cases reported by 70 poison centres in the U.S. during 1989. It includes statistics on age, sex, number of accidental & intentional exposures, different types of poisons used, the route of exposure (e.g. ingestion, stings), the types of medical therapies used, & the medical outcome- including the number of fatalities. As well, almost 100 case histories are presented. (VM)
