Examines the causes of premature deaths among men in relation to civil status & primary health care utilization in Sweden. Alcohol abuse was registered in 40% of the men. 1/2 of the men with psychosocial deaths (alcholism, suicide & accidents), were divorced at the time of death. The time between divorce & death was especially short for those who committed suicide. As symptoms are often vague, the authors suggest that doctors use a psychosocial context to diagnose single men at risk. (VM)
