Much remains to be done to improve clinical capacity for correct suicide risk assessment. Empirically demonstrated facts about increased risk are ready at hand & need to be taught to students & trainees. Those that are demonstrated but offend common-sense judgement will require extensive research confirmation first. False clinical beliefs need to be addressed by teachers so they are eradicated. At the present time, teaching about suicide in US medical schools appears to be sadly inadequate.
