Describes the need for prevention, intervention & postvention elements in a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention in the schools. Model programs are used to illustrate major components (e.g., system-wide policy) of comprehensive suicide prevention programs in schools. The need for comprehensive evaluation of such programs is stressed. Elements of comprehensive programs are listed.
