Assessed the effect of discharge planning on posthospitalization therapy by contacting the admitting physicians of all youths hospitalized for a suicide attempt. Of 80 attempters (10-20 yrs), adequate information was available on 65. At discharge, 47 Ss had discharge plans in the hospital record; of these, 18 received posthospitalization care. 19 Ss had no discharge plans, & only 1 received therapy. No other differences were found between those Ss receiving care & those not receiving care.
