Extracts from an interview with the mother of a 17 yr old boy who committed suicide illustrate the child’s violent behaviour, delinquency, relationships with the family & peers, efforts to seek treatment & clues to the impending suicide. The boy’s lifestyle & subsequent suicidal behavior are related to his middle-born sibling position.
