This paper describes Minnesota facilities for treating persons with mental illness. Before, if emergencies occurred at these facilities, police would be called, which was a misuse of resources. Thus, an outreach program which would provide on-site crisis intervention services was developed. This program provides assistance, crisis counseling, evaluates suicide risk in patients & assists with referrals. This program is effective as many patients prefer assessment in their own homes.
