This article describes the process of the admission of a suicidal adolescent into an inpatient pediatric unit. The author discusses emergency room procedures, & the evaluation of the patient to determine if they should be admitted to the pediatric/adolescent unit. She also details the usual characteristics of a suicidal teenager, & the staff response to these adolescents. (VM)
