The author interviewed 30 adolescents who had attempted suicide. Most of the teens felt they did not have a good relationship with their parents. Many teens did not understand death to be final at the time they attempted suicide, & their coping abilities were weak. Loss of various kinds was usually the triggering factor. Few teens sought professional help, but instead turned to friends, who often were not well informed about suicide. (VM)
