Suicidal Behavior in Schizophrenic Patients: A Follow-up Investigation (IN: Current Research on Suicide and Parasuicide, ed. by S D Platt and N Kreitman)

This study examines suicidal symptomatology in schizophrenic patients. The authors found that more than half of the patients displayed suicidal behaviour at least once, & that half of those patients attempted suicide. Female schizophrenic patients displayed suicidal behaviour more frequently than male patients. Hospitalization with or without suicidal behaviour did not differ regarding age, marital status, employment situation, or psychopathological sypmtoms. (VM)
