This study examines the relationship between alcohol consumption & deliberate self poisoning. Of the 200 suicide attempters questioned, almost 50% had consumed alcohol within 12 hours of the suicide attempt. Weekly alcohol consumption was also correlated, & 20% of the attempters were found to be high consumers of alcohol. No significant differences were found on the Beck Suicidal Intent Scale between low, medium & high consumption groups. (VM)
