Examines suicide trends in Australia from a sociological perspective highlighting selected sociological variables. Analysis shows that the overall suicide rate has remained quite stable over the last 100 years but important internal changes in suicide trends were evident. These trends are examined & a profile of possible sociological factors influencing suicide rates is presented. (59 ref)
