Reviews findings from several countries relative to the effect of parental alcoholism on children & adolescents. Evidence indicates that parental drinking markedly increases health risks including diminished intellectual capacity & development, increased neuroticism, & a wide range of psychological & behavioral disorders. Long-term adverse consequences include substance abuse, criminality, suicide, depression, personality disorders, & abstaining from alcohol. (87 ref)
