Two independent judges examined suicide notes of 20 men & 20 women for the presence of 50 protocol sentences regarding 12 discrete psychological variables such as conscious intention, lethality, fear of insanity, relations, & early life stresses. No sex differences were noted. The author states that although further studies are warranted, it may well be that there are no sex differences on many critical (genotypic) psychological variables in suicide notes &, by implication, suicide.
